| The last minute addition of Maravan Atapattu as captain of Delhi Giants will certainly bring in more cheers in this team. He is better known as a technically correct cricket batsman. He is also known for his throwing skills in the field. Atapattu’s recent addition to Delhi Jets will bring in the years of experience in the team. Other notable cricketer from abroad is Taufeeq Umar from Pakistan.
In addition, Delhi Giants will have international players like Neil O’Brien (Ire), Dale Benkenstein (SA) and Paul Nixon (Eng). Delhi Giants will be coached by former Team India coach and player Madan Lal. He has an excellent track record in first class level cricket in India. He had played 31 test matches for India and often came at lower order and gave the team a new fillip at crucial juncture of matches. After retirement, he had a stint as coach of UAE, team India and was in the Indian National team selection committee in 2000-2001. It remains to be seen whether the stint with Delhi Giants does his career any good or not.
Former national team member JP Yadav will also be a member of Delhi Giants. He has the experience of playing international players. Other players of team Delhi Giants are selected from Ranji Trophy players or from players with skills that match the stars. Delhi Giants will be having its first match on November 30, 2007 against Chandigarh Lions.
