ICL structure comprises of 4 basic pillars including the talent scouts, coaches, players, and the executive board. These 4 pillars of the ICL intend to work towards development of cricket sport that could equivalent international standards.
There would be 6 teams, each with a mentor, psychologist, dietician, media manager and a physiotherapist. Each team would include 4 international players, 2 Indian players, and 8 budding domestic players. Division of 6 teams is an initial effort which is contemplated to increase to 16 teams within a span of 3 years. The tournaments that these teams would play are formatted on Twenty20 as well as ODI (One Day International) arrangement.
Team division is made on the geographical lines, which would include talents taken from the entire length and breadth of the country. These teams would play at home as well as abroad basis. In short, the league would offer more exposure to the budding talent to gradually equal up to the international level of cricket.
Every team will also have first and second division sides so as to capitalize on talent utilization. These teams will be regularly sent to international cricket playing nations so that psychologically they are well prepared to take on the world of cricket. The ICL will be run by an Executive Board which will comprise of the top names of Indian and international cricket, and have the final say in all matters of the league and be responsible for running it
Essel Group’s Indian Cricket League is a private body which has received the backing of several national and international players. It is a Rs. 100 croce enterprise was formed on April 3, 2007.
ICL has a paid executive board including Tony Grieg, Dean Jones, and Kiran More with Kapil Dev as its chairman. There has been a continuous support by international and national players including Brian Lara, Nicky Boje. Sandip Patil, Raman Lal amid others. |
