London, June 23:: Despite Indian Cricket Board refusing to feature English counties having ICL players in the Twenty20 Champions League, an undeterred England and Wales Cricket Board said it would wait till a clear picture of the tournament rules came out in Dubai next week.
The ECB said the BCCI's stand was contrary to the understanding between the two Boards but it would wait till the tournament rules were finally out.
"This is a venture between four countries and we are waiting for Australia to come up with the rules and regulations," an ECB spokesman was quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
There were conflicting versions on Sunday's diktat by the Indian Board as BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah was quoted as saying that Pakistan had already been invited to replace England.
Shah even went to the extent of saying that ECB will have to change their policy if they want to take part in the tournament.
"ECB will have to change their policy. They will not be allowed to take part in the tournament if they send teams which have ICL players," he said.
But former BCCI president Inderjit Singh Bindra, an influential member of the IPL governing council, said only three countries were confirmed and Pakistan could be the fourth if the English counties refuse to drop ICL players from their teams.
