Tigers win, courtesy Jhunjhunwala and Ahmed!

The match on March 26 between the Kolkata Tigers and Chandigarh Lions was a clear crunch clash; either had to win to stay in the competition. Well, the performance of the teams cleared out the doubts and the Kolkata Tigers won the match by 22 runs. Nechin Ahmed and Jhunjhunwala shared the Man of the Match.
The team of the Kolkata Tigers batted first by winning the toss and choosing to bat first. Das and Klusner, the openers gave a very good initial momentum to the run rate from the start itself. Das however got to play just four deliveries out of which the first three were boundaries. Klusner with company of Jhunjhunwala made great runs for the team. Klusner scored 38 runs and Jhunjhunwala managed to survive till the end and made 62 runs for the Kolkata Tigers. Other batsmen did not contribute much other than a couple of players who scored mid twenties. The team set up a target of 166 runs for the Chandigarh Lions team.
The Lions team came in to bat for getting a win and it all depended on their batting line up. Vincent and Elliot started the match but went back too soon. Vincent added 14 runs and Elliot added 6 runs to the team score. The middle order batsmen were not too successful in getting runs for their team too and ended up making runs in single figures. Cairns made 14 runs for his team. Singh and Sharma came and settled well but were both dislodged by Adams single handedly. Ahmed fished 4 wickets for his team in his four over spell. The team finished at a score of 143 runs and lost the match to the Kolkata Tigers by 22 runs. |
