Tigers in semi-finals, Klusner’s Big Role in Win!

Date : 30th March
Place : Gurgaon

The important victory that the Kolkata Tigers won on Sunday was another threshold to strengthen their position in the tournament. The match was close and thrilling and the Tigers won the match against the Delhi Giants just by a single run. Upul Chandana was awarded the Man of the Match for his great bowling and three wickets.

The Tiger’s captain Craig McMillan chose to bat first on winning the toss and the game was opened by Dasgupta and Lance Klusner. The team was given a boost initially and things were running well till Dasgupta was dismissed for 35 for 21 balls. However Klusner held on and played his game well. Jhunjhunwala came in to support him and could manage a run a ball before being caught by bond off Mahajan’s delivery. The captain came in next and supported Klusner who was hanging on. He managed 21 runs off 30 balls and lost his wicket just a couple of balls before the end of the innings. The team’s score was confined to 142 runs even when the team had wickets in hand.

Things had a jump start in the beginning of the innings of the Delhi Giants, with the openers trying a great job. Gunawardene and Mishra opened strike and were doing very well with their job. The former scored 35 runs whereas the latter could manage 27 runs before getting dismissed. Mahajan then came in next and scored 12 runs. The middle order however disappointed a lot and altogether contributed 18 runs to the team. Yagnik, Sudhindra and Bond contributed 11, 14 and 7 runs but the team ran short of just 1 runs to get the scores equal. The result was the Tigers won the match by 1 run.
