Sathish inspired Superstars win in third place play-off!

With the great performance that was shown by Sathish in the match between Chennai Superstars and Kolkata Tigers for the third place, the Superstars had a victory with a good 32 run margin. The other important role that was played in the match was that by Thiru Kumaran. He took three wickets in his four overs after giving a miserly 12 runs.
The toss was won by the Superstars who chose to bat first. A great pump start was given to the team by Vignesh. He managed to get 40 runs off the platter as it seemed to be served to him. The 40 balls were off just 19 runs and included six fours and 2 sixes. After his departure, it was Badani and Sathish who made sure that effort by Vignesh did not get wasted and made 108 off 12 overs. Sathish contributed 86 runs whereas Badani added 36 runs to the team score of 186 runs.
In order to chase the daunting target, the Tigers started with a great momentum with the openers Dasgupta and Klusner on the field. Both of them were productive and made 49 runs off the first 5 overs. However both of them were dismissed one after the other. After that, it was only Craig McMillan who made a quick 35 runs off 22 balls so as to push the team score a bit. But a lonely effort could not help the team much. Wickets of the Kolkata Tigers team kept falling very regularly under the attack of the Superstars and the team wound up at 154 runs. And of course it was Sathish who was awarded the Man of the Match for his 86 runs that gave the team some place to act and win the match. |
