In the second consecutive day, we saw the Chandigarh Lions face a defeat and ultimately have lost any hopes of getting into the semi-finals. This match was a do or die for both the teams who had to win to qualify for the semi-final matches of the Edelweiss series of ICL Twenty20 matches. A 22-run victory was what we saw for the Kolkata Tigers against Chandigarh Lions.

The toss was won by the Kolkata Tigers who chose to bat. The opportunity of batting first was made use of very well by the batsmen. The opener Das gave a good momentum to the team’s batting by hitting three boundaries on the first three deliveries before he was caught leg before wicket on the fourth ball. Klusner paired with Jhunjhunwala made some really good runs and had 78 runs saved in for the team at the end of 11 overs. Klusner was run out on 38 runs but Jhunjhunwala continued with other batsmen of the team who came in. Singh managed to get in 18 runs and Gavaskar roped in 13 runs more. The final score of the team was 165 runs. Hall bowled well and got 3 wickets.

Now it was up to the batting order of the Chandigarh Lions who had to get the victory for their team. Vincent and Elliot opened strike but could get a good pace for the runs coming in. Elliot was lost at 6 runs and Vincent went back at 14 runs. The middle order of the team could not get even past with the 10 runs mark. TP Singh made the highest score of 34 followed by Manish Sharma who scored 23 off 15 balls. The team crashed at 143 runs in 20 overs and lost the match.
