ICL Match Reviews

Royal Bengal Tigers devour the Mumbai Champs, win by 2 runs!

Royal Bengal Tigers make a great debut in this leg of the ICL! A sure surprise, a pleasant one has taken everyone when the tigers of Kolkata have registered their first match in ICL as a win against the Mumbai Champs. This is because the Champs have managed to let go of the match even when the target set for them was achievable. The Royal Bengal Tigers have arguably the best batting line up in the tournament but the Champs have been a sure favourite since inception.

The Tigers batted first as they won the toss and have a firing batting line up. The innings was opened by Subhomoy Das and Lance Klusener who managed to keep the scoreboard ticking till Van der Wath got the break with Klusener in the third over. The Tigers kept adding runs to the scoreboard at a constant rate and kept losing wickets at regular intervals as well. They managed to put up a target of 146/5 in the 20 overs. Jhunjhunwala put on the highest score of 33 from amongst the Tigers.

To follow the target, Subhojit Paul and Saman Jayantha came out to open the innings of the Mumbai Champs but the early wicket of Jayantha on the third ball itself cause a major setback to the score. To revive the score, Patil was pitched in and he managed to add a half century to the total score. However the Champs could not cash in on the benefit of Patil and lost seven wickets in the last five overs. The Royal Bengal Tigers won the match by 2 runs!

For his all round performance of 21 runs and 3 wickets, Andre Adams has been awarded the Man of the Match and McMillan, the Tigers Captain thanks his bowlers for their performance.
