ICL comprises of both international and Indian cricket players of repute. Amongst the international players who have joined ICL includes Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf Abdul Razzaq, Imran Farhat, Lance Klusener and Nicky Boje amid others. Some of the Indian players who signed with the ICL include Dinesh Mongia, Reetinder Singh Sodhi, JP Yadav, Deep Dasgupta, Laxmi Ratan Shukla, T Kumaran and Ambati Rayudu, all of whom have represented India in the past. This confluence of cricket players of such caliber and enthusiasm in the very first edition of Indian Cricket League is a remarkable feat.
The ICL cricket players would be divided into 6 teams depending upon the geographical lines with a specialist coach in charge on each side. These teams would compete with each other in the upcoming tournament scheduled for mid-November, 2007.
At present, about 51 young cricket players are being trained in the camp organised at Chennai. The training of these young cricket players is being done by mentors, who have proved their metal in the past. The long waited tournament by ICL in October, in accordance to a recent announcement by the chairman, of the executive board of ICL Kapil Dev has been postponed to mid-November 2007.
This private cricket league founded by the Essel Group, aims to train young players in academies which would facilitate them to reach international level. The young talent of cricket players is collected from all over India. These hand-picked young talents is then divided amongst teams and further tutored by professionals in the field to achieve world class cricket.
The inaugural cricket tournament is would be held for these players, somewhere in mid-November at Mayajaal, which is a private resort equipped with all amenities required for the sport.
