| The ESSEL group under the leadership of Subhash Chandra has taken a positive step to improve the standards of Indian cricket in the form of ICL. It has its headquarters at Mumbai. Seen as a threat to the BCCI, the ICL cricket league aims to promote cricket in the nation.
The ESSEL group has included some of the most reputed players in the executive board of ICL. The chairman of the board is Kapil Dev while the other members of the board are Kiran More, Tony Greig and Dean Jones. These officials have been associated with the game for long and can be quite instrumental in improving the state of Indian cricket in the days to come. These ICL officials can understand the requirements of the game. Himangshu Modi, the head of Zee sports is also one of the ICL cricket officials.
The ICL cricket players have been selected from the entire country. Besides there are also some reputed national and international players who would be divided into 6 teams. These six ICL cricket teams are Chandigarh Lions, Chennai Superstars, Delhi Giants, Hyderabad Heroes, Kolkata Tigers and Mumbai Champs. They will be competing with each other in the Twenty20 matches of the ICL for prize money of $1 million.
Altogether 4 umpires have also joined in the Indian Cricket League. County umpires Jeff Evans and Trevor Jesty have been included as ICL cricket umpires. The other two umpires are Ray Julian and Dean Johnson. These 4 umpires have good experience of the game. Besides these 4 umpires, two former Indian players have also been included as ICL cricket match referees.
Besides these, some of the most eminent cricketers have also been included as ICL cricket coaches. All of the 6 teams have got an experienced coach to groom them and benefit from their experience. |
